We have a number of ongoing projects. Additionally, each year we complete a number of smaller projects. These may one time events or they may be repeated.
Our projects for 2010-12:
Soroptimists STOP Trafficking Community partnerships, coalition affiliations. Year round distribution and dissemination of Rescue & Restore: A Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative materials is happening both locally and nationally. Providing assistance for developing a community database of victim services for the Human Trafficking Hotline 1-888-3737-888, statewide law enforcement and CrimeStoppers Tipline are just a few of the ways Soroptimists in Greenville are working with other organizations to improve the lives of women and girls in our local community and throughout the world. Members can provide interested parties assistance in developing speaker panels for hosting awareness and educational events to fit their demographics - educational, religious, business, corporate, travel, law enforcement and more.
As participating members on the SC Anti-Trafficking Coaltion Soroptimist and local community leaders are actively working together to bring awareness and education to the public on how SC is affected by human and sex trafficking. Volunteer meetings may be attended by members of the community with a sincere interest in advocating abolition of modern day slavery. Cancer Society of Greenville County We are seeking donations of baby monitors to deliver to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, which provides support to area residents. The monitors will be given to bed-ridden clients, allowing care-givers to provide better help. Please reply by email if you have any donation. You will be contacted to arrange pick-up.
Festival of Trees We decorate a tree at the Hyatt Hotel as part of the program designed to raise funds for the St. Francis Hospital Foundation. Our 2010 tree sponsor is .
Our award winning Soroptimist magazine "Best for Women" are under the tree as a gift to you. Please take one or more and share the information inside. Did you pick up a supply of Soroptimist SAFE cards? They are part of our Soroptimist Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence. Contact us for more information. Greenville Literacy Association Annually Soroptimist provids "Book Check" stations at the Really Great, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale since August 2007. Shoppers are able to check bags or boxes of purchased books with us so they can continue shopping. SI Greenville returned once again for GLA's 2010 book sale to support the Literary Association. We hope you'll become a 'fan' of Soroptimist soon! Ronald McDonald House We collect can tabs to support Ronald McDonald House Charities collection efforts.
