Project SIerra is a four year partnership between Soroptimist International and Hope and Homes for Children which will transform the lives of some of the most deprived children and women in the world.
Project SIerra: A Family And A Future aims to raise £1 million ($2million USD) to help disadvantaged women and children in Sierra Leone face their futures with confidence. By strengthening families at risk of breakdown, helping young children living on the streets return home and empowering vulnerable young mothers, Project SIerra will enable more children to grow up in a caring family environment – giving them the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

United Nations. Soroptimist members serve as representatives at 5 major UN centers and several UN Regional Commissions. These volunteers work on many UN NGO committees which deal with issue important to women and address human rights inequities.

2003-2007 Project Independence: Women Survivors of War
1,960 women sponsored. 600 women received microcredit loans. 25% of participants in Rwandan training are now elected officials
Sponsorship Goal: 1,200 women sponsored through Project Independence. Result: 1,960 women sponsored, exceeding goal by 63%
Soroptimist International in partnership with Women for Women International combined the forces of thousands of individual women to support women survivors of war in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Rwanda.
- Over four years, Project Independence raise funds of at least $1.2 million to provide nearly 2,000 women with the skills they need to rebuild their lives after war. Result: $2.2 million raised, exceeding goal by 83% · Through the Sponsorship Program, Goal: Project Independence to provide at least 1200 women with direct aid and emotional support. Result: 1960 women sponsored, exceeding goal by 63%. · Through the Renewing Women's Life Skills Program (ReneWLS), Project Independence provided the women with practical skills for life, health, money management, leadership development, Rights Training and many more topics. · Through the Microcredit Lending Program, Project Independence provided at least 600 women with loans they used to start their own businesses and income-generating projects.
