Women's Opportunity Award A $600 to $900 cash grant awarded annually to a female head of household attending a technical or undergraduate institution to further career goals. The local winner is eligible for the Region's award program for a $3000 award. The regional winner is eligible for the Federation level program for a $10,000 award. Click here to view more details and access email writeable PDF application. Violet Richardson Award A $300 cash grant to a young woman 14-17 years old based on community service and commitment. A cash grant for $150 will be given to the winners charitable organization. The local winner is eligible for the Region's award program for a $1000 award. The regional winner competes at the Federation level for an additional award. The application Deadline is December 1, annually. Applications are available in August online. The Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women - 2012 Soroptimist Focus Areas ~ Economic and Social Development, Education, Environment, Human Rights/Status of Women, Health, International Goodwill & Understanding. Nominees may be from any of these areas. $250 donation will be given to the charitable organization of the winners choice in her honor. Click here to view details and access nomination forms.
Soroptimists STOP Trafficking Partnering with local SC Anti-Trafficking Coaltion members and hosting The SC STOP Human Trafficking Meetup Group, SI Greenville is working diligently to help bring awareness to the community about this horrendous crime of modern-day slavery. Yes, it really IS happening in our very own communities in South Carolina. Statewide coalition meetings can be held by teleconference. SCIVN hosts first responder meetings in Columbia a number of times during the year. Calendar of events and volunteer opportunities with various coaltion groups/organizations/agencies at Meetup.com. Join the coalition efforts and stay informed. Your awareness is needed to help fight trafficking. January 11 (The National Day of Human Trafficking Awareness). Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence Against Women Each November 25 through December 10, we provide employers in Greenville with SAFE CARDS highlighting the telephone numbers of the Domestic Violence Hotline and the Crisis Line. These cards are placed in the women's rest rooms, a safe and private location for women in need of the information. Internationally, Soroptimist's participate in a domestic violence awareness by distributing cards in the Upstate SC counties and at any SC business that requests materials. If you would like to have Awareness Cards for the women's restrooms at your place of business please email us. We will be happy to provide you with either cards or the .pdf form for you to print your own. (Available all year)
