GHS - 5th Annual Every Woman - March 1, 2008
Soroptimist International of Greenville hosted two resource tables during the Saturday event. This was the first year GHS has incorporated a Resource Room into Every Woman. SI Greenville was one of about 30 local organizations who provided information on women's issues to the approximately 1200-1300 attendees. Membership, speakers, speaking engagements, upcoming events, Domestic Violence Awareness and STOP Trafficking awareness were topics discussed with guests. One entire table was dedicated to the Rescue & Restore resource posters and brochures with approximately twenty-five 888-3737-888 Human Trafficking Hotline stickers distributed. Look for a Soroptimist resource table at other upcoming events.

Soroptimists STOP Trafficking Launch - January 11, 2008
Soroptimists launched the STOP Trafficking awareness campaign on January 11 nationwide. SI Greenville launched locally with a meeting where materials on human trafficking were disseminated to the Greer Police Department's Victim Services Advocate, Tanya Anderson. SI Greenville and GPD Victim Services signed up as coalition partners with the U.S. Government's Health and Human Services, Rescue & Restore: A Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign, which is supported by the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) administered by the Polaris Project located in Washington DC. Funding for all posters, brochures, hotline stickers, presentation materials is provided by HHS and provided to coalition partners at no cost.
In a collaborative effort with the NHTRC, we are in the process of developing a resource contact database of all the healthcare organizations, law enforcement and social service organizations that provide victim and non-victim services to victims of abuse and those identified as victims of human trafficking in the Upstate of South Carolina 10 county area. Your help is needed.
If you are associated with one of these types of organizations or already have a database with this information, please contact our STOP Trafficking committee asap at
soroptimist@gmail.com. If you would like to order HT hotline stickers with the 888-3737-888 number, posters or brochures in Spanish or English to display at your business send an email, ATTN: STOP Trafficking supplies request. (Other languages are available. Email your language requests and we will see if they can be met.)
