Soroptimists, who are leaders in their communities, believe that by joining with other women they can make the world a better place. Membership provides a number of material and intangible benefits for women wishing to use their time and talents in the service of other women.
Women who are interested in joining Soroptimist should fill out an introduction form. Someone from Soroptimist Greenville will be in contact soon after the form is submitted.
What is a Soroptimist Associate?
Although many women are interested in the Soroptimist mission of improving the lives of women and girls, some lack the ability to join a local club. Either no club exists in their area, or the local club has disbanded.
The Soroptimist organization offers these women an avenue for involvement through a non-club based membership type, the Soroptimist Associate. Until a club is chartered in their area, Soroptimist Associates can enjoy many of the benefits and rewards of regular Soroptimist membership. These include:
- participating in volunteer projects in a flexible environment
- attending Soroptimist conventions and meetings
- associating with other like-minded women throughout the world
- receiving the organization’s award-winning magazine
- access to the Soroptimist newly redesigned website.
Should I choose to join Soroptimist International of Greenville, what is expected of me?
All members of the club are expected to attend meetings, work on a committee, and participate in fund raising and service projects. You should expect to spend at least 4-6 hours a month in these activities. Members are encouraged to go to regional and national and international meetings, as they are able. Club members are given the chance at every meeting to share their "Happy Bucks" moments from the previous weeks. Each club member is expected to pay annual club dues. Dues are allocated among Soroptimist International, Soroptimist International of the Americas, Soroptimist International South Atlantic Region and the Greenville Club.
